Massage therapists are well aware that there can be confusion between their chosen profession of therapeutic touch and touch which is intimate and sexual in nature. This workshop will help participants be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of human sexuality and our relationship to our own sexuality
  • Recognize the emotional/physical/ sexual connection in massage
  • Have a greater awareness of energy transfer in massage
  • Understand personal and professional boundaries concerning sexuality issues in massage and appropriate therapist response
  • Communicate clear professional boundaries to clients
  • Discover new ways to promote self-care and grounding

This information will be demonstrated through pair exercises, group exercises (fish-bowl/gender groups), self-reflection/ journaling, and lecture. This one of a kind course has been approved by the NCBTMB as a ethics (includes Standard V) course.

We owe it to ourselves, our clients and our profession to deeply explore and focus on a topic of this importance and magnitude for it is in this knowledge, understanding and appropriate use that will continuingly make massage therapy a deep transformational force in our society.
